Parish Pastoral Council
The Christ the King (CTK) Parish Pastoral Council (PPC) serves our parish as a consultative body alongside the pastor. We strive to be a key instrument of lay leadership in the pastoral care and evangelization work of our parish and to encourage all members of Christ the King to play an active role in the life and presence of the Church in our community. In 2000, we adopted as our mission: Love the Lord, Encounter Christ, Serve all People.
Given the constraints of COVID, PPC currently meets virtually every second month from September to June. Meeting dates are set in collaboration with Father Steve and notice is given in the bulletin and on the website. Members of the parish are welcome to attend as observers. If you wish to do so, please contact Karen McBride (PPC Chair) at 306-570-3133 (text or call) or email
The Archdiocesan guidelines, which set the basis for PPC functioning and position terms, can be viewed on the Archdiocesan website. Our PPC includes the pastoral team, chairs (or representatives) of our active committees, the youth minister, as well as representatives from our CWL and Knights of Columbus. Members must be practicing confirmed Catholics and should be active in the parish. A criminal record check is a requirement for the chair of PPC as well as committee chairs/individuals engaged in ministries offering service to vulnerable persons. Vacancies may be filled by appointment by the pastor or by election or ratification at the Annual General Meeting (typically spring).
Our 2020 annual meeting was held via Zoom on Sunday April 25, 2021 with twenty five households in virtual attendance as well as six people at the Parish Centre (Father Steve together with staff and the chairs of Parish Pastoral Council (PPC) and Finance Committee and our accountant).
Despite the pandemic, our parish has weathered the challenges of 2020 with careful attention to finances; more importantly, we have benefited from abundant blessings through the Mass together with creative solutions to ensure ongoing pastoral care and programs. The annual meeting received remarks from Father Steve, information about the progress made in 2020 by Parish Pastoral Council (PPC) and parish committees, and reviewed and approved the 2020 Financial Reports and 2021 budget presented by Finance Committee. For details, including a year-in-review, please see the 2020 Annual Report posted on our website.
Given pandemic constraints, PPC meets virtually every second month between Sept and June. Please note that members of the parish are welcome to attend PPC meetings as an observer – if you wish to do this, contact Karen McBride (PPC Chair) at email@example.com or call 306-570-3133 and she will send you an e-invite.
There are currently three committee chair vacancies: Social Justice and Ecumenism, Welcoming, and Stewardship. If you are interested in serving on PPC or as a committee chair or member, please contact Father Steve.
